Biography
Born August 16, 1941 Nola Pender nursing theorist earned her bachelor's and master's Michigan State University. She received her Ph.D. from Northwestern University. She was named a living legend of the American Academy of Nursing in 2012. Nola was inspired by a doctoral advisor named James Hall. Pender was president of the academy from 1991 to 1993.
Theory
Nola Pender developed a theory called health promotion model, which it has steps to a better health. this gives people a pathway to a healthier lifestyle. To get to this state the health promotion model takes into account the person's characteristics and their experiences, behavior specific cognitions and affect and behavioral outcomes of a person. Health promotion model believes that life experiences affect their actions.

How does Health promotion model apply to Nursing assistant to meet Maslow's Hierarchy of Needs?
Health promotion model helps show the nature of people interacting with their interpersonal and physical environments when they pursue health. Nursing assistants helps establish the best way to help a patient by creating a goal and how to reach it by their motion, how much ability they have, and behavior. This helps improve their physiological and self esteem by you feeling better physically you tend to feel better mentally.
